That depends on your reason for coming. If you are coming purely for relaxation, general fitness and wellbeing, or for general muscular aches and pains, then no.

However, if you have a specific injury or ongoing health issues then we always recommend letting your doctor know. Our therapies are often used alongside conventional pain relief medication or other treatments.

You can read more about the benefits of each of our therapies here:

If you’re still not sure which is right for you, then please don’t hesitate to contact us for advice and further information.

No, it isn’t necessary to have a referral from your GP. Many of our complementary therapy clients are ‘self-referred’ or come to us after a recommendation from a friend or family member.

Our friendly reception team will welcome you initially. We usually have herbal tea and tasty homemade biscuits available for you to enjoy while you wait for your appointment. We recommend that you arrive around 10 minutes before your session, because we ask you to fill out a consent form before treatment.

When you first meet your therapist, they’ll start your first session by taking a detailed case history to understand your general health status and what you are seeking help with. They will then examine you to form an opinion on the cause of the problem, before deciding on a programme of treatment.

If you come to Rosebery Remedies for pilates classes, your practitioner will ask about your general health and any physical issues at the start of the class. Exercises can be modified to suit different abilities and tackle specific complaints, so please mention your reasons for coming to help our instructor deliver a class that suits your particular needs.

We accept cash or debit/credit cards, but not Amex. You will be asked to pay for your treatment at the end of each session unless your private healthcare provider has agreed to cover the cost.

You may be able to claim for treatment through your private healthcare company, but we advise you to check with them first. The treatments that are covered can vary greatly from provider to provider and you may be required to pay an excess.

This depends entirely on your specific issues, but generally we expect most patients to feel noticeably better after just a couple of visits. Sometimes it can take up to around six visits, or longer for more severe or ongoing complaints.

If you are having treatment purely for relaxation or general fitness then there is no limit on how regularly or how long you can continue coming to the clinic. We are really keen to build relationships with all of our clients, so we welcome the chance to help you monitor your progress and achieve your wellbeing goals.

Yes, absolutely. All of our practitioners are fully qualified and have full membership with the relevant governing body for their specific profession.

Please give us at least 24 hours notice (excluding weekends) if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment. If our receptionists are unable to take your call, please leave a message and we’ll call you back if necessary.

If you’re going to be late for an appointment, please call us. Where possible we’ll still honour your appointment time, but we do need to consider other patients so may need to rearrange.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement. During osteopathy, acupuncture and massage sessions, you might be asked to undress to your underwear so that your therapist can examine or treat the problem area and any surrounding joints or muscles.
